Exhibition Report

Shaanxi Kegu New Material Technology Co., Ltd. recently participated in Tokyo’s Highly-functional Material Week in Japan for the third time, presenting high-performance advanced materials, including silicon carbide (SiC), at the China Pavilion.

The exhibition brought together companies working in cutting-edge fields such as functional materials, advanced ceramics, powders, coatings, and drying technologies. It is an influential professional exhibition for advanced materials in Japan and across Asia. Held concurrently, CERAMIC JAPAN focused on downstream applications in semiconductors, precision manufacturing, and industrial equipment, attracting many manufacturing customers from Japan and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

This was the company’s third time exhibiting in Japan. Compared with our first appearance, we are now more familiar with the exhibition’s pace, customer needs, and communication styles. Yet each visit to Tokyo reminds us most clearly of the gap that remains between us and industry leaders.

At this year’s exhibition, we showcased key advanced-material products, including silicon carbide, highlighting their performance in high-temperature resistance, high strength, and precision machining. These products serve applications in semiconductors, industrial equipment, and precision components. Professional visitors from Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia stopped by our booth to exchange ideas. Our technical and sales teams introduced product specifications, manufacturing processes, and customized service solutions, and discussed material applications, project cooperation, and sample development. We recognize that most of these conversations are still at the information-gathering and initial-contact stage. There is still a long way to go before becoming part of Japanese customers’ supply chains.

Recognizing the Gap and Learning with an Open Mind

During the exhibition, our team paid particular attention to the booths of leading international ceramics and advanced-materials companies, including IBIDEN, NGK, Sinto, Yotai, Tokai, and Trio. IBIDEN presented ceramic solutions for semiconductors and high-end industrial applications under the theme “Creating Next-Generation Products with Ceramics.” NGK showcased advanced products such as dissimilar-material bonding and ultra-precision thin ceramic plates. Sinto focused on precision contract manufacturing using ceramic 3D printing and displayed very small mass-produced ceramic components. In the precision ceramics processing area, Tokai exhibited alumina ceramic products for medical, semiconductor, and equipment-component applications.

Standing before these booths left us with mixed feelings. The technical expertise these companies have accumulated over decades—or even more than a century—their relentless pursuit of material performance, and their exceptionally rigorous quality control cannot be matched overnight. Japan’s market has demanding quality requirements for precision and specialty materials. Supplier evaluations take time, validation involves multiple stages, and barriers to entry are high. Our three visits to the exhibition have made this clear.

That is precisely why we continue to attend. The exhibition is not only a place to present our products; it is also an opportunity to observe where the gaps lie and learn what industry leaders are doing. Throughout the event, our team proactively exchanged views with industry peers and sought advice on technical details and application experience, treating every visit as a learning opportunity. Recognizing the gap, learning with humility, and making steady improvements are essential steps in Shaanxi Kegu New Material’s development in overseas markets.

During the exhibition, we held discussions with groups of professional visitors from Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia. These exchanges helped strengthen existing customer relationships and gather first-hand market feedback, which will inform future product development and refinement.

Three Visits to Japan: A Continued Commitment to Overseas Markets

Our three appearances at the exhibition reflect our continued commitment to developing the Japanese and wider overseas markets. From our first appearance to gradually understanding the market and maintaining regular contact with customers, Shaanxi Kegu New Material has remained focused on technology, product quality, and the ongoing improvement of customized solutions. We understand that developing overseas markets takes time, and this is especially true in Japan. One exhibition will not open the door, and one product alone will not quickly build trust. Only by learning with humility, demonstrating the value of our products, and investing consistently over the long term can we gradually earn customers’ recognition.

Our trip to Tokyo was more than a product showcase; it was also an in-depth opportunity to research and learn about the international market. Going forward, we will organize the customer contacts gathered at the exhibition, follow up on potential orders, learn from the technical approaches of leading international companies, and continue improving our products. By providing higher-quality, high-performance advanced materials, we aim to serve high-end manufacturing customers in China and abroad and steadily advance our global business.

Shaanxi Kegu New Material is rooted in the advanced-materials sector, specializing in the research, development, and production of high-performance specialty materials. We understand where we stand and recognize that there is still a long road ahead. With humility and a practical approach, we look forward to working with customers around the world to create new value for the materials industry.
