Silicon nitride nozzles and covers feature exceptional oxidation resistance, high temperature strength, and minimal sputter adhesion, significantly extending the service life of welding components.
Among the five silicon nitride production methods, Gas Pressure Sintering (GPS) is most commonly used for manufacturing Si3N4 components. GPS involves sintering at temperatures around 2000°C under nitrogen pressures of 1-10 MPa. The high nitrogen pressure prevents silicon nitride decomposition, while elevated temperatures enable substantial grain growth with minimal sintering aids. This process yields high-toughness ceramics with long columnar grains and densities exceeding 99%, providing excellent toughness, strength, and wear resistance while enabling near-net-shape production to reduce manufacturing costs.
