KeGu Expands Alumina Ceramic Range: 99.7% Calcined Alumina Powder and 1700C Sintered Parts
2026/11/03
Xi'an, China — Shaanxi KeGu New Material Technology Co., Ltd. (KEGU), a manufacturer and trading company established in 2017 that ships more than half of its output to overseas markets, has broadened its alumina ceramic programme to cover the full production chain: high-purity calcined alumina powders, battery-grade alumina, and sintered alumina ceramic components for foundry, semiconductor, wear-resistant and high-temperature applications.
The move reflects a clear shift in buyer demand. Customers no longer source powders and finished parts from separate suppliers; they want one partner who can control purity at the powder stage, then carry the same material discipline through pressing, sintering and precision machining. KEGU now offers exactly that continuity.
At the base of the chain is a family of calcined alumina grades with aluminium oxide content of 99.7% or higher, alpha-phase content above 95%, and sodium oxide controlled down to 0.03%. High alpha-phase content gives predictable sintering shrinkage and final density; low alkali content suppresses glass-phase formation and abnormal grain growth during firing.
| Grade | Al2O3 ≥ (%) | Na2O ≤ (%) | Alpha-phase ≥ (%) | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ALC-11 | 99.7 | 0.03 | 95 | Wear parts, seals, structural ceramics |
| ALC-12 | 99.7 | 0.05 | 95 | Fine technical ceramics, dry pressing |
| ALC-13G | 99.7 | 0.08 | 95 | Isostatic pressing, grinding media |
| ALC-21G | 99.7 | 0.05 | 95 | Electronic substrates and insulators |
Grades are available with tightly controlled primary crystal and particle size ranges, allowing customers to tune powder packing, green density and shrinkage for dry pressing, isostatic pressing and hot pressure casting.
On the high-purity side, KEGU supplies 99.95% alumina powder engineered for lithium-ion ceramic separator coating. The material combines a narrow particle size distribution (D50 typically 0.4 to 1.0 microns) with BET surface area in the 4 to 9 m2/g range and excellent dispersibility in water-based slurries. The result is uniform coating thickness, low heat shrinkage, reduced separator pore blockage and improved high-temperature resistance — the properties that directly support battery safety and cycle life.
The finished-part portfolio now covers demanding industrial positions:
- Alumina ceramic tubes sintered at up to 1700C for thermocouple protection, kiln furniture and molten-metal handling.
- A998 (99.8%) high-purity alumina rings in 200 mm and 300 mm formats for semiconductor tools requiring plasma resistance and low particle shedding.
- High-purity alumina crucibles in custom sizes for sintering and melting duty.
- Alumina ceramic foam filters with 80 to 90% porosity, round or square, for foundry filtration of aluminium and other non-ferrous melts.
- Ceramic robotic arms, fingers and end effectors for wafer handling where thermal stability and dimensional precision matter.
- Alumina ceramic liners, plates and wear parts for grinding, impact and slurry service.
Three pressures are pushing procurement teams toward single-source alumina partners. First, traceability: when a crack or a colour deviation appears in a fired part, the root cause is often the powder lot, so powder and part data need to sit with one supplier. Second, lead time: sintering, machining and inspection under one roof removes weeks of coordination. Third, cost of failure: in semiconductor and battery applications, a rejected batch costs far more than the price gap between two powder grades.
KEGU produces calcined alumina in tunnel kilns under controlled thermal profiles, with batch-level checks on Al2O3 content, sodium, iron and silica, alpha-phase ratio and particle size distribution. Finished components are inspected for density, water absorption, hardness and dimensional tolerance before packing in strong wooden cases for export.
Typical commercial terms include L/C, D/A, D/P and T/T payment, with supply capability around 2,000 pieces per month for standard component lines and custom formulations available on request.
Buyers evaluating alumina for a new programme can request grade-specific technical datasheets, particle size reports and component samples. The KEGU technical team works directly with customer engineers on grade selection, sintering profiles and tolerance requirements to shorten the qualification cycle.
