Alumina Portfolio Expanded: 99.99% High-Purity Powders, 1700°C Sintered Ceramics and Alumina Fiber Insulation
2026/10/29
Aluminium oxide (Al2O3) sits at the centre of almost every high-temperature, high-wear and high-voltage application in manufacturing today. As semiconductor fabs tighten purity requirements, EV battery makers push separator coatings to 99.95%, and foundries look for lower-cost replacements for steel tooling, demand for engineered alumina has shifted from "generic ceramic" to grade-specific, specification-driven purchasing.
Our alumina programme now covers the complete chain: high-purity powders at the front end, dense 96%–99.9% sintered components in the middle, and alumina fibre insulation at the hot face. The result is a single qualified source for buyers who previously had to combine four or five suppliers.
| Product family | Key specification | Typical application |
|---|---|---|
| Gamma alumina powder | 99.99% purity, 20–50 nm, 100 m²/g surface area | Catalyst carriers, polishing slurries, coatings |
| Battery-grade alumina | 99.95% purity, high dispersibility | Li-ion ceramic separator coating |
| Calcined & alpha alumina | >95% alpha phase, Na2O <0.08%, 0.1–3 µm | Fine ceramics, tape casting, precision polishing |
| Spherical alumina | 3.60 g/cm³ specific gravity, D50 controlled | Thermal interface materials, thermal management |
| Alumina ceramic tubes | 96–99.8% Al2O3, isostatic pressing, 1700°C sintering, OD 25–500 mm | Thermocouple protection, furnace and slurry line liners |
| Alumina substrates | 99.9% purity, low sodium <0.03%, high alpha phase | LCD glass and solar panel handling, thick-film circuits |
| Alumina crucibles & kiln furniture | 1600°C working temperature, 96% and 99% grades | MIM sintering and debinding, melting |
| Alumina foam filters | 80–90% porosity, chemical stability | Molten aluminium and alloy filtration |
| Alumina fibre insulation | 1300–1600°C classification, 1200–2250 g/m² felt | Furnace linings, expansion joints, seals |
Sourcing alumina by the name alone is the most common cause of field failures. Three specifications drive performance more than any other:
- Soda content. Standard calcined alumina carries 0.1–0.3% Na2O, which volatilises in vacuum furnaces and contaminates wafers. Low-sodium grades below 0.03% are mandatory for semiconductor and display glass tooling.
- Phase composition. Alpha alumina delivers density, hardness and dimensional stability. Gamma alumina delivers surface area — above 100 m²/g — which is why it dominates catalyst and slurry applications. Specifying the wrong phase means paying for a property the process never uses.
- Density and forming route. Isostatic pressing plus 1700°C sintering produces tubes with compressive strength above 150 MPa and Mohs hardness above 80, while lightweight 0.8 g/cm³ plates are deliberately porous for scratch-free wafer finishing. Neither is "better"; they answer different problems.
| Parameter | Value | Practical meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Compressive strength | ≥150 MPa | Structural integrity under stacked furnace loads |
| Tensile strength (99.9% grade) | 260 MPa | Reliable clamping in fixture and chuck designs |
| Max. service temperature | 1380–1700°C | Continuous duty in sintering and melting zones |
| Water absorption | ≤0.2% | No moisture pick-up, no dielectric drift |
| Abrasion loss | <0.02% | Extended liner life in slurry and grinding circuits |
| Supply ability | 2,000 pcs/month | Repeatable volume for serial production |
Semiconductor and electronics: plasma-resistant rings for 200 mm and 300 mm tools, multi-bore tubes, insulating sleeves, robot end effectors and AlN/Al2O3/Si3N4 substrate sets for thermal management. Energy storage: fuse shells and separator coating powders for EV and grid storage packs. Metallurgy: foam filters, launders, sprue cups, caster tips and non-wetting aluminium titanate riser tubes that remove the cracking and erosion problems of steel tooling at 750°C. Process industry: chemical reaction chambers, heat exchanger tubes and abrasive pipeline liners. Photovoltaic and display: low-sodium substrates and high-fluidity powders for glass handling lines.
Dimensions, tolerances, surface finishes, coatings and granulation mesh are all made to order, from 60–200 mesh isostatic pressing granules to 1100°C-rated alumina fibre fabric and braided rope. Every shipment ships in strong wooden cases for global transport, with payment terms covering L/C, D/P, D/A and T/T.
Send us your operating temperature, chemical environment and tolerance requirement, and our engineering team will confirm the grade, the forming route and a sample schedule — so the alumina you receive matches the process it has to survive.
